Launch the plan of Flood EWAS
Within the framework of the “Roufaka2 Al Naher” project funded by the AFD – Agence Française de Développement and Danida, a kick-off meeting was held at the headquarters of the National Council for Scientific Research (CNRS Lebanon) on 20/4/2023 to launch the plan of Flood EWAS (Early Warning Early Action System) for Ostouane (Akkar) and Ghzayel (Bekaa) River Basins. This project will be implemented by the CNRS with the support of the FRC Croix-Rouge française.
A discussion took place to figure out the way forward for this project:
- Jen (Representing the FRC): Review of EWAS process maps and project objectives
- Dr. Chadi Abdallah (Director of the EWS platform at the CNRS): Overview of EWS model and flood EWAS scope with expected deliverables.
This meeting was done in the presence of representatives from the DRM Lebanon, French Red Cross, Solidarité International, Climate Center and Lebanese Red Cross, with a virtual intervention from ECMWF-Readings UK.
