Fire Forecast
RISICO model is a system integrated in the DEWETRA and used by NEWSP. It allows to define the best strategies for monitoring the high-risk areas, limiting the probability of ignition of uncontrolled fires. It allows to deploy fire-fighting resources in advance near the high-risk areas, reducing the response time in case of wildfires. Baes on this model NEWSP is disseminating early warning messages for forest fires potentiality for the 72 hours on daily basis. This is communicated through a daily bulletin distributed on Social media (WhatsApp Groups, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Civil Defense, CNRS and DRM Unit websites),Dashboards of CNRS and Lebanese Red Cross. The message is also communicated through a “Token” sent daily to the Ministry of Interior Affairs and disseminated in its turn to the Municipalities, Civil Defense main stakeholders, and first responders.
Fire Record
Many dashboards were also implemented by an integrated team and updated on a daily basis: Daily monitoring of fire numbers in various Lebanese regions; Classification of fire types (wooded trees, fruit trees, or grasslands); Carrying out immediate statistics for each district and governorate accordingly, in order to be uploaded to these platforms.
