UNDP Representatives’ visit to NCNE
We were honored to host Mr. Haoliang Xu, UN Under-Secretary-General & UNDP Associate Administrator, during his visit to Lebanon, along with Mrs. Blerta Aliko, UNDP Lebanon Resident Representative, Mr. Thair Shraideh, Deputy Resident Representative, Mr. Zahi Chahine, Head of the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Unit DRM Lebanon at the Presidency of the Council of Ministers at UNDP, and the UNDP Team at the National Center for Natural Hazards & Early Warning (NCNE) at CNRS Lebanon.
This visit marked another milestone in our long-standing partnership and collaboration with UNDP, which has been strengthening since 2012. Over the past decade, our joint efforts have significantly advanced disaster risk reduction, crisis response, and recovery initiatives, reinforcing our shared commitment to building a more resilient Lebanon.
During the visit, we had the opportunity to showcase our key activities and projects, with a particular focus on our recent war damage assessment efforts. The findings of this assessment were prominently presented, highlighting the extensive work completed using advanced AI-driven methodologies and professional software.
Additionally, we provided an overview of our latest equipment provided by UNDP Lebanon, including LiDAR Scanners, Laser Scanner, and Robotic Total Stations. These play a vital role in enhancing our data collection and assessment capabilities and are the first in the region to have such equipment. These advancements reflect the continued support and investment in cutting-edge technology that enables us to respond effectively to crises and disasters. We look forward to further strengthening our collaboration with UNDP, continuing to drive impactful initiatives that safeguard communities and enhance resilience across Lebanon.
